What we would test on this page

Each one is a single-variable change, run on a large group of pages that share this template, measured against a control group that keeps the page exactly as it is.

From SEO to GEO

Same method. Different battleground.

Our approach to testing has not changed: control and variant page groups, measured against each other. What changes is what you are competing for. You are no longer testing against a single search result, you are testing against an entire AI-driven research journey.

Where you test

Product and category pages

Your PDPs and PLPs are the pages an AI reaches for when someone is close to buying. They are also the pages that share a template, which is what makes a controlled test possible at all.

What moves

Bottom of funnel, not top

The focus shifts from being seen early to being chosen late. An AI has already narrowed the field by the time your page matters, so the question is whether it picks you.

What an LLM reads

Training data and live retrieval

Models draw on static knowledge from training and live knowledge pulled at query time through retrieval. You can only influence one of those quickly, and that is the one we test.

What lands in your inbox

Five tests we'd run on your pages, and what they're worth.

You get a short deck, built by hand from your live pages. Here's what's in it.

1 Where we looked

Which pages we checked, and when.

Product pageProduct pageCategory page
5clear opportunities found
4patterns you're already getting right

It's a first-pass check on a small sample of pages, so treat it as a starting shortlist for a conversation rather than a full audit. The deck says the same thing.

2 What you're already getting right

What your templates already handle well.

PatternRisk if undone
Clean product H1s, no category stacking−28%
Specs in their own headed section−5.5%
Title Case on the primary keyword−8.5%

Each number is what that change was worth in a controlled test elsewhere. Undo it and that's roughly what you'd be giving back.

3 The five tests

Five tests, and what each one did elsewhere.

+50%Pros and cons block
>15%Brand first in titles
+11%'Best' in category titles
+8%Keyword added to the H1
>5%Question-style titles

Every number comes from a published SearchPilot case study, linked in the deck so you can read the full result yourself.

4 One slide per test

What each test slide covers.

1What's on your page now, quoted from the page we checked.
2The change, written out as current and proposed.
3The case study behind it, with the industry and the date.
4A mockup of the change on your own template.

The tests higher up this page are the same ones, taken from real analyses.

5 The revenue maths

What a testing programme would be worth to you.

1How much organic revenue is actually addressable, from your sessions and your revenue per session.
2What the winning tests are worth, next to what the losing ones would have cost if they'd shipped.
3Payback period, and the return on platform cost.

We run it on your numbers and name the sources. Where a figure is an estimate, we say so.

6 What we ask for

Thirty minutes with whoever owns organic and AI visibility.

To talk through the five tests. No demo attached, and the analysis is yours either way.

A SearchPilot strategist writes it by hand, using our archive of published tests and your live pages.

What GEO A/B testing proves

Four things you can only learn by testing.

SearchPilot runs controlled experiments on some of the largest transactional sites in the world. Your plan comes out of that practice, and the tests run on the same platform.

Rank better in AI search

Make your product and category pages the source an AI reaches for as it guides someone towards a purchase.

Rank for new queries

Widen your coverage across the fan-out queries an AI runs behind the single question it was asked.

Appear more compellingly

Test which content and which format the model actually chooses to put in front of a shopper.

Earn the final click

Find what makes your page the primary source, and what turns that visibility into revenue.

“SearchPilot is a key tool for our SEO and LLM optimisations. Being able to test multiple KPIs in the same test, such as organic traffic and LLM referrals, is massively impactful.”

The short answers.

Is this really free?

Yes. We build one plan per brand, at no charge, with no demo attached. It takes us a few hours, and it is the clearest way we know to show what working with us looks like.

Is the plan AI-generated?

A SearchPilot strategist writes it by hand, using our GEO test library and your live pages. We use models the way you would expect, to move faster through public data. The judgement, the ranking and the test design are ours.

How do you A/B test a page for AI search?

The same way we have tested for SEO for years. We split a large group of pages that share a template into a control group and a variant group, change one thing on the variant, and measure the difference. The metrics change for GEO, so LLM referrals sit alongside organic traffic and revenue in the same test.

What do you need from us?

A URL. Everything we examine for the plan is publicly visible. Running the tests themselves needs a platform integration, and that is a later conversation.

Will testing put our organic traffic at risk?

A control group is what keeps it safe. Only part of the population sees the change, guardrail metrics run alongside the primary ones, and a test that hurts performance is stopped long before it reaches the full site.

Your next GEO move should be a test, not a guess.
